"Since Adient Aerospace launched the Ascent business class suite at AIX in 2018, Hawaiian Airlines signed up as launch customer for its B787-9 aircraft, and further orders have since been awarded for programmes with additional (undisclosed) customers. The process should be efficient, as Adient has been working with OEMs to optimise the design for swift installation, and for fast repair turnaround times while in service.
Ascent was developed using automotive seating principles, at Adient's Automotive Comfort Lab, to provide the levels of comfort found in luxury cars. The ergonomics address both perceived and actual comfort, with pressure-mapping and surveys conducted to gain accurate comfort data, which was studies, and implemented in the design."
